Pernel announces deals for ‘The Innocence Network’

Boom! client Pernel Media announces a commission from French Pay TV channel 13éme Rue to produce a major new true crime series ‘The Innocence Network’.

Boom! client independent TV Production Company Pernel Media today announces a commission from French Pay TV channel 13éme Rue to produce a major new true crime series ‘The Innocence Network’.

‘The Innocence Network’ is a 4 x 60’ factual entertainment series of true crime stories derived through unprecedented access to two members of the Innocence Network, the Innocence Project New York and the Innocence Project New Orleans.

‘The Innocence Network’ studies the full judicial process of each featured case; the initial investigations that led the individuals to jail, the battle to revisit the case, the new investigation, and the human cost – the twists and turns and emotional impact experienced by those convicted and their families.

‘The Innocence Network’ was commissioned by 13éme Rue’s Head of Productions & Acquisitions Kevin Deysson and Stephanie Hunt VP, Programming, Southern European Channels. Executive Producer is Samuel Kissous for Pernel Media. Ceire Clarke negotiated the international distribution rights to the series for all3media International.

The Innocence Network is a group of 69 organizations from around the world that are working to exonerate unjustly convicted men and women. The Innocence Network members also work to reform the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice. One of the member organizations was recently featured in the hit podcast ‘Serial’ and to date the Innocence Network has helped in 189 of the 337 DNA exonerations in the U.S.

all3media International has struck a distribution agreement to sell the series internationally and will launch the show at MIPTV 2016. Pernel Media will produce both a French and English language version of the series. Both versions will feature closed US cases of The Innocence Project in New York and New Orleans whilst the French version will also feature ongoing French cases that are still in progress. Actor Jean-Hugues Anglade (‘Betty Blue’, Killing Zoe’, ‘Braquo’) will voice the French version.

‘The Innocence Network’ is the latest major production for Pernel Media and follows the commission of original travelogue series ‘Sinful Sweets’ by Cooking Channel in the US and Food Network in the UK, ‘Wheeler Dealers France’ for RMC Decouverte and ‘Paris Métro; a city under the city’ for France 5.
