Boom! client, independent TV Production Company Pernel Media today announces that SVOD platform CuriosityStream has acquired the global non-exclusive rights to stream the second season of ‘The Real War of Thrones: A History of Europe’.

Following a strong streaming performance of season one on CuriosityStream, impressive domestic ratings on France 5 and a raft of international sales including to Foxtel, Viasat World, ZDF, TV5 and the commission of an English language version of the series for History UK, ‘The Real War of Thrones: A History of Europe’ will return to CuriosityStream with an extended 6 x 60’ second season.

Again, featuring lavish 4K drama reconstruction, the second season will focus on the struggles between Catholic and Protestant faiths and the intertwined relationships of rival and related European houses during the 1500’s. The reign of ‘Bloody’ Mary Tudor and her aggressive attempts to reverse the English Reformation led by her father Henry VIII, the reestablishment of Protestantism under Elizabeth I and the claim to the throne of Mary, Queen of Scots all feature along with the turbulent interlinked stories of rival dynasties of the time including House of Valois and Catherine de Medici in France, the Habsburgs and the Princes of the Holy Roman Empire in Spain and Germany.
