Media Ranch reveals slate for MIPCOM 2018

Media Ranch today announces a line up of original TV formats available for acquisition for the first time at MIPCOM 2018 coinciding with the company's 10th anniversary.

Boom! client Media Ranch, the award-winning Canadian TV production and distribution company, today announces a powerful and innovative line up of original TV formats available for acquisition for the first time at MIPCOM 2018.

Media Ranch’s MIPCOM 2018 line-up features:

‘The Ex-pert’ 13 x 60’ – a powerful and provocative factual series that follows a high-profile divorce lawyer and a family psychologist as they conciliate separated couples who come to get their issues resolved, including custody arrangements, pensions and financial problems.

This never-seen-before show – which looks at the hard truth of separation – helps couples at three different stages: divorced, divorcing and on the verge of divorce. The programme was recently produced for Canal Vie in Canada, starring renowned celebrity divorce lawyer Anne-France Goldwater.

With 40% of first marriages failing and 60% of second marriages collapsing, this format provides a deep insight into why couples undo their “I-do’s”. For separated couples, divorce is never over and for those divorcing, it remains the hardest thing to do. But just because a relationship is failing, it doesn’t mean the breakup has to be acrimonious. All issues in the show are attempted to be resolved fairly and amicably, while some couples are successfully co-parenting.

And who better than a divorce lawyer to give advice to couples? At the end of the show, divorcing and divorced couples will receive legally binding solutions, while those on the verge of separating will receive valuable opinions and advice.

‘The Judas’ 12 x 10’ – an innovative interactive crime investigation format that invites six players to go beyond the fiction by immersing themselves at the heart of an Alternative Reality Game.

‘The Judas’ was written in 360 degrees exclusively for digital platforms and originally broadcast in French on Radio- Canada.ca with great success and a loyal following.

The series opens with the young owner of a building found dead. Six of his tenants are suspected of killing him because he placed hidden cameras in their apartments and used the private recordings on his voyeuristic website. To find the culprit, the detective asks players to help review all of the videotape footage seized at the scene of the crime and search for clues both on and offline.

‘The Vault’ 10 x 50’ – a new reality game show that sees 12 contestants get the incredible chance to plan and carry out their own epic bank heist The ground-breaking series is a co-development with Dutch  producer Tuvalu Media.

‘The Vault’ is set on an abandoned industrial area where contestants, who have never met each other, arrive blindfolded and handcuffed. They will remain in the hangar for 16 days to prepare for the job of the century – robbing a heavily secured bank. However, none of the contestants are aware of this before the start of the show. When Ocean’s 12 meets an escape room. What else is there to add?

Each episode consists of three challenges – a cash challenge, an information challenge and an elimination challenge. The ultimate aim is to gain a huge cash prize if they succeed in robbing the bank and getting the contents of the vault.

We’re extremely excited to celebrate our tenth anniversary with our most innovative slate of formats yet,” said Media Ranch President Sophie Ferron. “Each of our three formats is unique and innovative in its own right and we can’t wait to bring them to this year’s MIPCOM.”
